Dave Burlison, a talented photographer, snap happy after he won a series of awards. Dave, who runs the Burlison Photography with Janice, his wife, from a converted barn located on Apsley Estate, in Hurstbourne Priors, has won each category where he entered in Master Photographers’ Association’s Photography Awards.

The contest is open to full time members of Master Photographers Association – United Kingdom’s only trade body which is exclusively for pro wedding, commercial and portrait photographers. Dave, who is the recommended photographer for Highclere Castle events – the home of ITV’s Downton Abbey – was very successful in 6 categories – commercial, portrait, press/PR, wedding photographer, fashion as well as wedding album design.

In the wedding class, an accomplished photographer snatched the 1st, 2nd and 3rd spot. Also, he was also called the Photographer of the Year. Dave told that it was really magnificent, as they won each category they went in for, and they have not entered the awards before.

He added that to be members of the Master Photographers’ Association, you have to be earning your living as a photographer, and be qualified, and it is the only organization in the country to have those standards. Photographers that belong to it are going to be the best. Therefore, to win all categories they went in for was really unbelievable. It is a huge honor.

Over one lakh photographers from hundred and sixty six nations gave their snaps in the Sony World Photography Awards 2014. The subjects of the photographs range from a line of a pride of lions walking across the Serengeti national park to beautiful Israeli landscapes.

After months of selection and narrowing down, now, the World Photography Organization has declared Sara Naomi Lewkowicz, an American photographer the as the winner of L’Iris d’Or, i.e. the Sony World Photography Awards Professional Photographer of the Year.

Speaking about her prize, she told that she is totally stunned; there was such extraordinarily strong work, she figured there was no way she could win – she was just excited to receive one award. She is completely overwhelmed. Her photograph series named Shane and Maggie also won in Contemporary Issues category.

The winners in the fourteen categories were also declared. The groups were –Arts & Culture, Campaign, Architecture, Conceptual, Contemporary Issues, Landscape, Lifestyle, Current Affairs, Nature & Wildlife, Sport, Still Life, Travel, People and Portraiture.

The photos of the finalists are currently being displayed at Somerset House till 18th May in London and would be published in Sony World Photography Awards book.
